Bike Rider

Speeding down the sidewalk
he rides and rides
on his shiny red bike,
down and back
back and down
round and round,
leaning into it,
while I sit and gaze
from my porch.

Leafy-limbed shade
cools my watching place,
sun goes pink
clouds go gold
leaves rustle,
and the rider
makes his circuit
one last time.
