My Beautiful Stay-cation

Today, Friday, at 4pm,
I started the first day of my
stay-at-home vacation.
The first of nine yummy days
to do just as I please,
nothing more, nothing less.
Nine luscious days
stretch out before me
with no grown-up pressures at all.
I’ll wallow in puddles of sunshine,
watch butterflies pirouette across the yard,
slurp ice cream on the front porch,
read under the trees, eat grilled cheese
sandwiches with chocolate milk,
just like I did on the last day of 5th grade,
wake up when I please.
I may die of pleasure just thinking about it.
