A Country Drive

Good day for a drive in the country.
The names I pass are Mockingbird Lane.
Old Welcome Road.
Horse Creek.
The day feels like a smile, mild and golden
and the road’s wide open
like the sky above.
Everyone’s busy gorging themselves
this Thanksgiving day.
Or getting ready to.
I can fly as fast as I want
past the muted fields,
let the wild air blow through
the windows and mess up my hair.
So I do.
