Just a Thing

“I just have a thing for you,” he said.
Nonchalantly, just like that.
A thing for me.
Simple and true
without tinsel and gloss.
My Romeo has his feet on the ground,
but the Bard’s Juliet couldn’t
have been happier with
her love’s bright-eyed praises
than I am with, “I just have a thing for you.”
