Fairy Dust

I woke
with the taste
of childhood
in my mouth.

A taste of teacups
and Tinkerbell;
handsome fathers,
pretty mothers.

A taste of contentment
tinged with wonder and
good things to come;
…like Wordsworth’s child,
trailing glory.

But it faded too fast;
I tried to keep it with me
and couldn’t.
